Round Lake Heights is located on the edge of Round Lake Beach in the northwestern part of the county. It was incorporated in 1960.

Recreation -- Round Lake Heights participates in the Round Lake Area Park District. Shag Bark Park is located within the village limits.

Schools -- Lake Villa Elementary School District #41, Round Lake Unit School District #116, and Grant High School District #124 serve the village. Students living in the northern portion of the village attend District #41 for grade school and District #124 for high school. District #41 has an enrollment of 2,457 students and District #124 has an enrollment of 990 students. Students living in the southern portion of the village attend District #116, which contains grades K-12. District #116 has an enrollment of 5,207 students. There are several parochial schools in the Round Lake area.
