An older community, Lake Villa was incorporated in 1901.

Recreation -- The Lake Villa area has ample lakes for water sports.

Schools -- Lake Villa Consolidated Community District #41 provides students with three elementary schools with total enrollment of 2,457. High school students attend neighboring Antioch Community District #117 with 1,801 students or Grayslake Community District #127 with 1,388 students. There are also four private elementary schools and two parochial schools.

Housing -- The 2000 median house value was $207,200 and the median rent cost was $816. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2000)

Government Services -- The Lake Villa Police Department's 13 sworn officers serve the village. Fire protection is provided by the 41 Lake Villa volunteer firefighters at one station. Lake Villa Township Library serves the entire township.

Transportation -- Lake Villa residents can access Interstate 94 in about five minutes. Those who want to reach the Loop by train can use the Metra Wisconsin Central Line local station on Cedar Avenue. The Milwaukee District North Line station in nearby Grayslake is also available. Pace buses serve many of the surrounding communities in northern Lake County area.
