Recreation
The Lake Barrington-Countryside Park District operates a park, tennis courts,
a tot lot, and a ball diamond.
Schools
Barrington Unit School District #220 serves the majority of Lake Barrington,
and has an enrollment of 7,695 students. The northern tip of the village is
served by Wauconda Unit District #118, which has an enrollment of 3,547 students.
There are parochial schools in Wauconda and Barrington.
Housing
Spacious single family homes sit on minimum one acre lots. The 2000 median house
value was $343,900 and the median rent cost was $1,406. (U.S. Census Bureau,

Medical services are available at nearby Good Shepherd Hospital and at two private
medical clinics located within the village.

Fire protection is provided by either the Barrington, Countryside, Wauconda,
or Lake Zurich Fire Protection Districts. Police service is provided under contract
by the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Transportation
Major roadways consist of State Rtes. 22 and 59, River Road and Kelsey Road.
Metra commuter train service is available in nearby Barrington. Interstate 90
is a short drive from the Village.
