The City of Highland Park was incorporated in 1869. Major employers include Solo Cup Company and Opportunity, Inc., Highland Park Hospital, School Districts #112 and #113, and the City of Highland Park.
Recreation -- The Park District of Highland Park oversees 44 park areas comprising over 600 acres and special-use facilities, such as the Lake Michigan beaches, two recreation centers and outdoor pools. Highland Park residents enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and sunbathing along the city's Lake Michigan shoreline. Ravinia Festival is the summer home of the world-renowned Chicago Symphony Orchestra and presents jazz, rock, folk, country, and pop concerts.
