Gurnee, incorporated in 1928, enjoys a strong tax base and is home to Six Flags Great America theme park, Gurnee Mills regional mall, Domino Amjet, and numerous other businesses and corporations located within Gurnee's six business and industrial parks.

Recreation -- The Gurnee Park District offers a wide range of programs for all ages and continues to increase its village park network to keep pace with Gurnee's growing population. The Gurnee Park District operates 23 park sites with a total of 250 acres of open space. One park, Gowe Beach, offers swimming, a water slide, and a canoe launch into the nearby Des Plaines River.
