Beach Park was incorporated in 1989.
Recreation -- Beach Park shares their recreational services with Zion and Waukegan. Illinois Beach State Park, located along Lake Michigan, forms the community's eastern boundary and has considerable impact on the character of the community.
Schools -- Elementary students in Beach Park are served by five schools in Beach Park District #3 with total enrollment of 1,919. High school students living in the northern part of the village attend Zion-Benton Township School District #126 with 2,061 students, while those in the southern part of the village attend Waukegan High School. A wide selection of parochial schools is available in neighboring Zion and Waukegan.
Housing -- Many attractive homesites are available along the ravines that cut through the community. Many homes on large lots and wooded settings are available. The 2000 median house value was $144,300 and the median rent cost was $718. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2000) Beach Park also has five mobile home parks.
Medical Facilities -- Medical facilities include the Midwest Regional Medical Center in Zion with 160 beds and 250 physicians and medical/health care specialists on staff, Victory Memorial Hospital and St. Therese Medical Center, both in Waukegan.
Government Services -- Fire protection is provided by the Bonnie Brook and Winthrop Harbor Fire Protection Districts. Police protection is provided under contract by the Lake County Sheriff's Department.
Transportation -- Beach Park is linked to other lakeshore communities by a Pace bus line running along Sheridan Road, and the Metra Chicago & North Western/North Line with stations in Waukegan and Zion. Access to Chicago and Milwaukee can also be attained via Interstate 94.
